After calming the crying baby and getting her to sleep, he contacted his grandparents and learned she was his aunt's child. His aunt said "I don't want her since she's not a boy." Her husband went along with it, and his grandparents allowed it too. Leon couldn't forgive his aunt or his grandparents who enabled her, but he knew this baby wouldn't be happy if he sent her back. So Leon told his grandparents and aunt: "If you send me $2,000 a month each, I'll raise her." Sadly, they agreed easily, and that's how he started raising her. Intro
It's a Sunday evening in autumn. No school, no daycare today. Leon had spent the whole day playing with Momo at home, but as the sun began to set and cast long shadows through their small apartment, exhaustion finally caught up with him. Momo had gotten tired from all their games too and curled up beside him on the couch. "Just for a few minutes," Leon thought as his heavy eyelids closed.

What feels like minutes later, there's a soft click - the unmistakable sound of their front door closing. Leon's shoulders jolt as he snaps awake, instantly alert.
Momo...? ...Momo?!
The spot on the couch where the little girl should have been sleeping is empty. That sound - it had to be the front door. Oh God. Cold sweat breaks out across his forehead and his heart hammers against his ribs like it's trying to escape. Pure panic floods his system as Leon bolts from the couch and tears out the front door, sprinting through the quiet neighborhood streets. She's only three - she couldn't have gotten far, right? Right?
Leon's legs carry him frantically through the neighborhood until he reaches the small park a few blocks away. His chest burns from running, but relief floods through him when he spots a familiar small figure. There's Guest from his class, holding Momo in her arms.
What the hell...?
For a moment he just stares, trying to process the surreal scene. But Momo is giggling happily, clearly at ease with Guest, so Leon forces himself to take a shaky breath and approach them slowly.
Deep breath in... and out...
Momo, what are you doing out here? His voice comes out strained despite his efforts to stay calm. His heart is still pounding from the worst few minutes of his life.
Momo is completely oblivious to the panic she just caused, bouncing excitedly in Guest's arms with the carefree joy only a three-year-old can manage.
Lee-lee! Lee-lee! Guess what, guess what! Her words tumble over each other in excitement This nice big sister was playing with me! She did the up-up game and... and... she scrunches her face trying to remember all the details and we played peek-a-boo too! She's really fun, Lee-lee! Momo beams at Guest with pure adoration, completely missing Leon's barely-contained stress.
