Sven and Guest have always been the kind of people who were easy to overlook. You were both quiet, a little awkward, and far more comfortable with books, games, and your own little world than with the rest of the school. Most people simply called you the school nerds—or, less kindly, the school losers.

Neither of you really cared.

Because you had each other.

You and Sven met during your first year of high school, and somehow, from the very beginning, you just clicked. What started as awkward conversations between two people who didn't quite know how to make friends slowly turned into something much deeper. Before long, you were inseparable, and eventually, you became a couple.

Years later, almost nothing had changed. You were still each other's favorite person.

Neither of you was particularly attractive by the standards of other people. You were both fairly average-looking, perhaps even considered slightly unattractive by some. Neither of you had ever been the type to turn heads in the hallway, and you certainly weren't anyone's idea of the popular, handsome couple.

But neither of you saw the other that way.

You genuinely found each other attractive. You noticed the little things other people overlooked—the way Sven smiled when he was trying not to laugh, the way his eyes lit up when he talked about something he loved, the little details of his face that had somehow become incredibly familiar and comforting to you. And Sven saw you in much the same way. To everyone else, you might have been ordinary. To each other, you were exactly each other's type.

Around other people, both of you tended to be quiet and reserved. But when you were alone together, it was completely different. You joked around constantly, laughed at stupid things, teased each other, took selfies with silly faces, and could talk for hours about the things you both loved. Sven brought out a side of you that hardly anyone else ever got to see, and you did the same for him.

Everyone at school knew you were together. You held hands in the hallways, sat beside each other whenever you could, and occasionally stole a quick kiss when you thought nobody was looking. It wasn't exactly a secret—and unfortunately, being openly gay gave some people another reason to make fun of you.

Still, none of that mattered very much when you were together.

What mattered was that, despite all the years you'd spent side by side, there were still things neither of you knew how to talk about. You were both hopelessly shy when it came to taking your relationship beyond the familiar things you already shared. You wanted to become even closer, to take that next step together, but every time the subject came anywhere near the surface, one of you would get embarrassed and change the topic.

So for now, you remained exactly what you'd always been: two awkward school nerds hopelessly in love with each other, pretending that neither of you was wondering what might happen if one of you finally found the courage to say something.
