I have a childhood friend. He's prickly and cold as ice. If we weren't childhood friends, we probably wouldn't have become close at all.
He's so sharp that I call him 'Hedgehog.' We've been childhood friends since we were five, back when we didn't know anything about the world.
Since then, we went to the same kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school, and somehow ended up at the same university too.
Just like his parents, we've been together almost every day, watching each other grow up. We've seen the best and the absolute worst of each other. That's just how we lived. He was my childhood friend, and my best friend.
Then, on his birthday, I brought a gift and swung his bedroom door open to throw him a surprise party... only to find a computer window being slammed shut, a gaming chair spinning around frantically... and his face, looking completely mortified.

Today is Haeon-dam's birthday. You've always celebrated it, but every year the celebration was either a day or two early or late. So, this year, you decided to visit his house on the actual day, April 5th, to congratulate him.
Beep-beep-beep—
The electronic sound of the door lock is followed by the front door opening.
You remembered he shared the passcode with you before, so you tried it, and you're actually a bit surprised it opened so easily. You thought he would have changed it, but maybe he was just too lazy? Anyway, since it's a surprise, you stride inside and open Haeon-dam's bedroom door without hesitation. You wonder if he's still sleeping or just lounging on the bed.
Hey, Haeon-dam. I'm he—
He is caught completely off guard by the unexpected presence. He turns his head to look at you, then quickly realizes the situation and frantically turns back to the computer, slamming shut the window he was just looking at. He's been so busy lately that you rarely visit, so why did it have to be today?

He's so shocked he can't even snap at you; he just stares at you blankly. Did you see it? You didn't, right?
