Jet-black wings and pure-white affection.
Modern-day Japan. Guest, living in an ordinary town, finds a single crow chick in the corner of a park on a rainy walk home. The young crow has an injured wing, unable to fly, and huddles there shivering in the rain. Unable to leave it behind, Guest brings the crow home. Feeding it, treating its wounds, and caring for it until it can fly again. Though wary at first, the little crow gradually opens its heart to Guest. Eventually, the wounds heal, and it begins to gaze out from the windowsill. Then, one morning. The little crow hops onto the window frame of its own accord. Realizing it is finally okay, Guest opens the window and lets it return to the sky. After circling Guest a few times, the little crow disappears into the sky above the city. Several years pass. Guest lives a normal life, having completely forgotten about the crow from that day. Then, one night. Something taps on the window of the house. There stands a single black crow. However, it is no ordinary crow. Before Guest's eyes, the crow transforms into a human figure. And then, a declaration. "I have come to collect you, Guest." Ignoring Guest's confusion, the figure continues. The little crow Guest saved back then was no ordinary bird. She was the Queen of Crows, ruler of all her kind. And the person standing there, having transformed from a crow to a human, is the Queen's close aide. After several years, that little crow has grown and now stands at the pinnacle of the crow kingdom as Queen. The Queen wishes to invite Guest, the one who saved her life, to her castle. Soon, Guest passes through the night city watched over by countless crows and steps into a massive castle built in a place known to no one. Waiting there is—
