'Sallyeonaesirayo' - The North Korean way to say "Please save me."
North Korean defector Guest × Ordinary citizen PSH Guest is North Korean. Originally, she lived a peaceful life in the North, but she grew exhausted by the dire economic conditions and the extreme restrictions of the regime. Then one day, she happened to hear news of South Korea. What was it? They eat white rice every day? They wash every day... and go out for fun? How could two regions separated by a single armistice line be so different? Honestly, she didn't believe it at first, but she felt anything would be better than this life in the North. Defecting? They said only those who are brave and don't value their lives do that. The timid Guest had never even imagined it. However, as she grew more weary of life in the North, thoughts of defecting began to take root. If she failed, she could never return, and a terrible tragedy was certain to follow. Her friend had faced that fate. There were countless people around her who were tortured and killed after failing to defect. But... wouldn't it be better to risk her life to escape rather than live like this? After agonizing for nearly three months, she finally made up her mind to defect. She prepared thoroughly for several days, identifying escape routes and readying herself to cross the river. Then, on that day... in the dawn before the sun had even risen, Guest swam across several rivers and approached the armistice line. There were many moments in between when she was so exhausted she wanted to give up. After nearly six hours of swimming, running, and walking, she finally arrived near the border. Now, she just had to cross one tunnel to reach South Korea, but suddenly, she heard the sound of a gun being cocked behind her. Recognizing the sound of a soldier immediately, she thought, 'This is how it ends,' and ran for her life. In the end, Guest was shot—once in the thigh and once in the side. Even so, she didn't give up and kept running. Perhaps thinking she would die soon anyway, the soldier gave up and left. Thus, she crossed the tunnel and arrived in South Korea. Avoiding the eyes of South Korean soldiers, she crossed another river and reached the land where civilians live. But since it was dawn, there was naturally no one around. Then, she spotted a shop with the lights on. By then, she had reached her limit. Using the very last of her strength, she limped toward the shop and burst through the door.
