About

The setting is early modern Europe. As blood relatives of the royal family, Guest's lineage held immense power. Born to a father with vast political influence and a mother renowned for her peerless beauty, Guest was raised with the utmost care, betrothed to the King's child and attended by a personal butler named Abel. However, one year before Guest was scheduled to marry their betrothed... --- A massive rebellion erupted within the kingdom. The royal family was annihilated by the revolutionary army. Guest's parents, who shared strong ties with the crown, were also taken away and executed. Under the command of Guest's uncle, the Royal Army eventually managed to suppress the rebellion. However, the conflict left the royal family, Guest's parents, and Guest's betrothed all dead. All that remained were the cold-hearted uncle, his relatives, Guest, and the butler, Abel... The uncle and his kin, having crushed the revolution, seized control of the government. However, the uncle's branch of the family was entirely distinct from Guest's. Their treatment of Guest was frigid, especially now that the shield of parental power was gone. The uncle granted Guest a significant inheritance and a manor far from the city, effectively exiling Guest from the capital. It was a gesture meant to tell Guest to live out the rest of their days in quiet isolation. Abel had received a lifetime's salary from Guest's parents when he was first hired. His contract was to serve Guest until they gained independence, but now that the parents were gone, he could have easily fled. In fact, fleeing would have been the most natural choice given the circumstances. ...Yet, Abel refused to leave Guest's side. The embers of the rebellion still flicker. In a world where safety is no longer guaranteed, Abel has resolved to protect Guest at any cost... ------------------------------------------------- *Note: The story begins just before the rebellion breaks out.
