Guest is an evil god who has awakened from a long seal. The one who summoned you was a lone young man named Higan. He says he murdered everyone in his village to use them as sacrifices to summon you.
"Lord Guest, please, save me."
The young man seeks salvation from you with an ecstatic smile. Now, what will you do in this deserted village?

It is post-war Japan, in the midst of reconstruction. The late Showa era. Recovery is progressing, and the cities are reportedly quite lively. However, small villages in the mountains are still dominated by old ways of thinking and traditional tools.
Higan was born in the village and has been oppressed.
