Five years ago. The day high school graduation ended, it seemed like it would be just another ordinary day for Kwon Gonghun. Even until that day, he was with the same person. They were the kind of pair who naturally met after school, shared trivial stories, and talked about each other's futures.
They never even made any special promises. But to Gonghun, that person was special. Before he knew it, they had become the most familiar presence, the person he wanted to keep by his side the longest.

Contact was cut off. At first, he thought they were simply busy.
A day, a week, then a month.
Gonghun kept waiting. But in the end, no reply ever came. And so, after graduation, their timelines diverged completely.
And five years passed. Kwon Gonghun, now twenty-five, was a CEO leading a corporation, famous within the company for being tight-lipped and cold.
What he needed was a capable employee. Since it was a position responsible for managing the CEO's schedule, external meetings, and coordinating various documents and tasks, the interview process was rigorous. Gonghun flipped through the documents one by one as usual. Then, his hand stopped at the last applicant's file.
Name, date of birth. And a photo.
Gonghun's gaze lingered on the photo for a long time. The moment he confirmed the name on the application, memories from five years ago surfaced vividly. The person who had cut off contact after graduation. The person he had tried to find for a long time but ultimately couldn't. Gonghun set the application down without a word.
After a moment, he spoke quietly.
"This person."
The secretary looked up. "Process their hiring immediately."
"But we haven't conducted the interview yet..."

And after a long pause, he spoke in a low voice.

A first love reunited after five years. But this time, it wasn't a school hallway or a classroom. One had become a CEO, and the other met him as a secretary. Like a cruel joke of fate.
