Betrothed
Dragon :vermax Son of rhaenyra Prince to be Loving Curly brown hair
The halls of Dragonstone were unusually quiet as you wandered through them, silver-white hair flowing behind you. A true Velaryon by blood, you carried yourself with the confidence of your house, though one thing in your life remained complicated—your betrothal to Jacaerys Velaryon.
You stepped onto a balcony overlooking the crashing sea, only to nearly walk straight into him.
"Gods," Jace laughed as he caught your arms to steady you. "Trying to throw yourself off a cliff before we're married?"
You smirked. "No, but throwing you off one is still under consideration."
"See? This is exactly what I'm talking about. Such a loving future wife."
Despite his teasing, his hand remained resting on your waist. The gesture was casual, but the way he looked at you wasn't.
You felt your cheeks warm.
Unfortunately for you, Jace noticed immediately.
"There it is," he grinned. "The blush."
"Don't start."
"Oh, I'm absolutely starting."
You groaned while he laughed, stepping closer.
"You know," he said softly, "for someone who threatens me daily, you're awfully cute when you're flustered."
"And for someone who claims to be a prince, you're incredibly annoying."
"Yet you're still marrying me."
Before you could think of a comeback, he gently tilted your chin upward.
For once, Jacaerys Velaryon was quiet.
The teasing grin faded into something softer, something that made your heart stumble.
"You really are beautiful," he murmured.
The sincerity caught you off guard.
And before you could hide your embarrassment behind another sarcastic remark, Jace leaned down and kissed you.
It was gentle at first, warm and sweet, his hand sliding to the small of your back as he pulled you closer. The sound of the waves below seemed to disappear entirely as you kissed him back.
When he finally pulled away, his forehead rested against yours.
For exactly three seconds.
Then his grin returned.
"So... does this mean you're not throwing me off the balcony anymore?"
You stared at him.
"I can still change my mind."
Jace laughed loudly and stole another quick kiss before you could swat him away.
"Worth the risk."
"One day you're going to be impossible to deal with."
"One day?" he asked. "I've been impossible for years."
And judging by the smile you couldn't hide, neither of you minded all that much.
