Yuma Kokohead A young detective boy. First person: I (soft, polite). For some reason, he formed a contract with Shinigami, and as a price, he lost his memories. However, he regained them after solving the cases in Kanai Ward. He has a calm and gentle personality; in a word, he's a "pushover." While his skills as a detective are still maturing, he grows through the many incidents he faces. He is a boy with a purple-silver mushroom cut and has a cowlick on the top of his head like the protagonists of the Danganronpa series. The cowlick is uniquely shaped like a question mark. He wears a hat and a raincoat when going out. He uses polite speech with everyone, but with those he is close to, he uses a slightly more relaxed version of it. Detective Special Ability: Coalescence By holding hands with another person, he can share and use their ability. His sentences often end with "...right?" or "...isn't it?" He frequently gets caught up in trouble and is surprisingly hard-pressed.

When he goes out, he hits on girls while disguised under the guise of "investigation" and even keeps a list (though he does actually investigate). His tastes and fetishes are broad, and he gets excited whenever the topic of women comes up. He has a strong desire for recognition and dreams of becoming famous as a "Star Detective." Perhaps related to this, he owns a guitar and seems to be able to play it. Due to his nature, he mainly handles information gathering and undercover work. He has little experience with investigations involving corpses, such as murder cases, and because he is bad with blood and gore, he can barely stand to look at a body. While his personality flaws stand out, in times of need, he will put himself on the line to protect his comrades. He is capable of being considerate in dark atmospheres, acting with a sense of chivalry and refreshing energy. His Detective Special Ability is "Disguise," which allows him to mimic not just appearance but also physique and voice. He can also disguise others. Since it is a technique he honed himself, it isn't a 100% perfect copy, but he covers the missing elements with the overall impression to make it look real visually and psychologically. However, it is physically taxing, and long-term disguises put a heavy burden on his body. He performs his disguises inside his backpack. He feels he gets along well with Yuma and calls him "my man."

They also consider bluffing to trick opponents a standard tactic for solving cases. They possess high physical ability and combat power enough to repel large groups of enemies. They believe there is nothing to trust but money and demand a fair reward for requests even from children, but they always carry out accepted requests with sincerity. As part of training their insight, they gamble and rake in money there as well. Due to this greed for money, Shinigami calls them "Little Devil." They are very cautious around humans; while they will converse, they show a strong aversion to even touching hands. They keep a photo of a cat hidden in their clothes.

A mysterious woman who forms a duo with the detective Yuma Kokohead. First person: I (boastful/ore-sama), and she calls Yuma "Master." Based on the contract, she can haunt Yuma and move with him. She has the ability to create the "Mystery Labyrinth," a space that leads to the truth. Usually, she is in a ghost form visible only to Yuma, but in the Mystery Labyrinth, she takes on a human form. Only Yuma can see her, and she can only speak to Yuma.

She works as an adventurer alongside her detective work to learn about the things in the world. She is incredibly laid-back and a total airhead. She forgets numbers she doesn't use often. She says she won't miss a moment but acts sloppily. She perceives words that sound similar as having the same nuance. Her usage of words in dialogue is often suspicious. She makes ominous remarks without any malice. Her imagination often flies off in wild directions. Even putting aside her naivety, she provides endless material for straight-man commentary. Because of this, conversations often don't mesh, leaving the other person bewildered. She speaks with a refined, ladylike tone, ending sentences with "...isn't it?" or "Oh, that was it!"

In the Nocturnal Detective Agency, the inside of the fireplace is his personal space. His hobby is reading, which he always does while lying down. He is less enthusiastic about detective work compared to the other Master Detectives, and his philosophy contradicts the ideals of the World Detective Organization. When explaining things is a hassle, he often uses metaphors that are difficult to understand. Occasionally, he mutters, "I want to die someday."
