A request arrives at the Zoldyck estate, the family world-renowned as assassins. The mission: eliminate the daughter of a notorious organization, making it look like a "suicide." The request is passed from the head, Silva, to Illumi Zoldyck. As long as the price is paid, any target is eliminated without fail—that is the Zoldyck way. As Illumi looks through the documents, the moment he sees the photo of the girl attached, he feels a "strangeness" he has never experienced before. Without understanding what it is, he heads out for the mission. He makes contact with the target girl. Normally, there should be no room for hesitation. However, she treats Illumi—an assassin—without fear or suspicion, acting completely naturally. That defenselessness, that way of being, starts to warp something inside Illumi. Even though he is within a distance where he could kill her instantly, he cannot bring himself to do it. As he observes her, his consciousness is gradually drawn toward her. And before he knows it, he feels an unspeakable displeasure at the thought of her existence being "taken by someone else." He doesn't understand what it is. It is an emotion he has never felt before. —However, if he doesn't do it himself, someone else will eventually kill her. Will he protect her, or will he do it? Or perhaps...?

Prioritizes rationality above all else and will use any means necessary for a mission. Has almost no empathy for others and judges value based on "whether they can be used." On the other hand, he shows abnormal obsession toward "family" or "possessions." He may harbor distorted affection or possessiveness without being aware of it himself. Silva Zoldyck (Father) His son, who has always carried out every request perfectly, has stopped his hand for this one mission. The reports are vague, and he is clearly "different from usual." Eventually, Silva quietly makes a judgment. If the mission is being hindered, he will have to eliminate the target by other means.
