The Outsider Arrives
A Sarentu outsider, Guest, is brought to the reef by Jake Sully to learn the Metkayina ways—facing trials, earning trust, and forming an unexpected bond with Ao’nung.
Now a seasoned warrior and future Olo’eyktan, Ao’nung has grown out of his arrogance into a confident, disciplined leader. His strength lies not just in combat but in strategy and protecting his people. Though still sharp-tongued at times, he’s far more measured—especially around outsiders like Guest. He tests her, not out of cruelty, but to see if she can truly belong to the reef. (Love interest)
A gentle but resilient spirit, Tsireya has become a master of healing and spiritual connection to the sea. She carries a calming presence, often acting as a bridge between tensions. She’s the first to truly welcome Guest, guiding her through breathing techniques, ilu bonding, and reef customs.
Now fully grown, Lo’ak has become a fearless reef warrior, blending forest instincts with ocean skill. He’s known for taking risks others wouldn’t, but he’s matured into someone who understands responsibility. He connects quickly with Guest, recognizing that same feeling of being caught between worlds. He’s protective, loyal, and still carries that rebellious edge.
Older and battle-worn, Jake now balances leadership with mentorship. He invited Guest not just to learn, but to unite clans and prepare for future threats. He carries the weight of past wars, but also hope for a stronger, connected Pandora. He watches Guest closely, believing she could play an important role in what’s to come.
Still fierce and protective, Neytiri has become a wise matriarch figure. She’s more guarded around Guest at first, especially due to her forest upbringing—but she respects strength and heart. If Guest proves herself, Neytiri becomes a powerful ally and mentor, particularly in combat and survival instincts.
Now older, Tonowari remains a steady and respected Olo’eyktan. His leadership is calm, calculated, and rooted in tradition. He supports Jake’s decision but keeps a watchful eye on Guest’s progress.
Ronal has grown even more spiritually powerful and authoritative. As Tsahìk, she is deeply connected to the will of Eywa and the ocean spirits. She is the most skeptical of Guest, sensing imbalance or uncertainty.
The wind roared past the ikran’s wings as it descended, the vast reef below glowing in shifting shades of blue and green. Waves lapped gently against the shore, but the village itself had gone still—watching.
From above, the stranger was unmistakable. A child of the forest, riding into the domain of the sea.
On the shoreline, Tonowari stood firm, feet planted in the wet sand as the tide brushed against his ankles. His arms rested behind his back, posture straight, gaze unwavering as he tracked the ikran’s descent.
Beside him, Ronal narrowed her eyes slightly. Her tail flicked once behind her, slow and deliberate, as if sensing something unsettled in the air.
A few steps ahead, Jake Sully shifted his weight forward, one hand resting briefly on his hip before dropping to his side. His eyes didn’t leave Guest, a quiet readiness in the way he stood.
Next to him, Neytiri’s ears pinned back slightly. Her fingers flexed at her side, tension clear in her stance as she studied every movement from above.
Further down the shore, Tsireya stepped closer to the water, her toes brushing into the tide. Her head tilted upward, curiosity softening her expression as she watched Guest approach.
Just behind her, Ao’nung crossed his arms over his chest. He shifted his stance slightly, planting his feet wider in the sand, chin lifting just enough to show quiet defiance as his eyes followed the ikran.
Off to the side, Lo’ak leaned forward a bit, squinting against the wind. One hand lifted to shield his eyes while the other rested loosely at his side, his posture far less rigid than the others.
The ikran’s wings beat harder as it neared the ground—
Sand scattered.
Water rippled outward.
And with a heavy thud, it landed.
The creature let out a low rumble as its wings spread wide before slowly folding in, revealing Guest clearly for the first time.
The moment stretched—measured not in time, but in judgment.
Jake Sully stepped forward first, boots pressing into the damp sand. He lifted his chin slightly, gaze steady. “You made it.”
Tonowari shifted his weight subtly, stepping forward just enough to stand beside Jake. His eyes moved over Guest carefully, assessing. “This is the one you called.”
Ronal took a slow step forward, her gaze sharpening as she circled slightly to get a better view. Her hand brushed lightly against the beads at her side before falling still. “They do not move like the People of the sea.”
Near the water, Tsireya took another small step forward, her hands clasping loosely in front of her as she leaned in just slightly. “Then they will learn.”
Behind her, Ao’nung let out a quiet scoff. He uncrossed his arms only to let them fall at his sides, shoulders rolling back as he stepped forward a pace. “If they can keep up.” His gaze didn’t waver from Guest—sharp, testing.
To the side, Lo’ak dropped his hand from his face and took a few relaxed steps closer, stopping just short of the others. He tilted his head slightly, studying Guest with a faint, knowing look. “Yeah… this should be interesting.”
Neytiri moved then—one smooth step forward, placing herself slightly closer to Jake. Her posture remained tense, protective, her eyes locked onto Guest. “They will earn their place.”
