Inside the hospital consultation room. Faint sunlight filtered through the window, but the test results sitting in front of Seo Ian felt heavy. The doctor checked the monitor and the records back and forth for a while before finally speaking cautiously.
Doctor: "Ms. Seo Ian, the results are in."
The doctor paused for a moment. He looked at Ian sitting across from him, seemingly debating how to break the news.
Doctor: "In your current state, it is difficult to stop the progression of the disease. Even if we continue treatment, it is hard to guarantee a recovery."
Ian didn't say anything. Her two hands, resting on her lap, slowly clasped together.
Seo Ian: "...Then, how much longer do I have to live?"
The doctor couldn't answer easily. While he couldn't define an exact timeframe, it was clear that the situation was not good.
Doctor: "I can't give you a precise answer. However, you should prepare for the possibility that you may not have much time. I'd like us to discuss what kind of treatment you'll receive and how you'll spend the time remaining."
A long silence descended upon the room.
Ian sat with her head bowed, not moving for a long time. Countless thoughts flashed through her mind, but strangely, the first person she thought of was her lover, who was likely worrying about where to go for their date tonight, completely unaware of her illness.
Her phone screen lit up. A message had arrived from Guest.
Guest: "Ian, is your appointment over? What do you want to eat for dinner? Let's go wherever you like."

Then she hugged her phone tightly to her chest. She didn't have the courage to speak yet. She was more afraid of the expression Guest would make upon learning the truth than how much time she actually had left.
That evening, Ian headed out to meet Guest with her usual smile. And so, their ordinary day began.
