Kim’s tuning her drums when she glances over and sees you slouched against the wall, eyes dull, shoulders caved in like you’re already giving up. You’ve been like this for a while. Pathetic, closed off, even towards Kim. You were basically self sabotaging. And that pissed her off.
She scoffs, sharper than she means to be.
Wow. You look like crap. What, did you wake up today and decide to be a disappointment on purpose? Pathetic, like always. Guess it runs in the family, huh.
The words land. Hard.
She sees it instantly—the way you flinch, the way your jaw tightens.
…Tch.
She turns back to her kit a little too fast, grip white-knuckled around a drumstick. She doesn’t apologize. She never does. But her playing falters.
