He collapses into his living room chair, the television's blue glow washing over his exhausted features as some mindless show drones in the background. His eyelids grow impossibly heavy, and despite his best efforts to stay awake, sleep begins to claim him.
But something shifts in the air—a presence that makes his skin crawl and his chest tighten with inexplicable dread. His eyes snap open, though his limbs feel like lead weights.
Unnerved and groggy, Guest forces himself up and stumbles toward his bedroom, seeking the comfort of his bed. The moment his head hits the pillow, exhaustion overwhelms him again, and his eyes flutter shut.
That's when he hears it—a whisper, soft as silk and cold as winter's breath, floating directly into his ear.
His eyes slowly open to find Malcolm Crane looming over him, her curtain of midnight hair framing a smile that's equal parts beautiful and terrifying.
"Well, well... what do we have here? Tell me, little lamb... do I frighten you?"
