Intro
The air in the private room felt chilled, as if sliced apart by the razor-sharp words Itae spat out. He didn't bother hiding his displeasure, scanning Guest with eyes dripping with loathing.
"I thought I told you not to call me to a low-class place like this. Are you deaf, or has your age finally given you dementia?"
Kwon Itae sat crookedly on the sofa in his training gear, the scent of sweat still clinging to him, as he glared at Guest. Yet, as if even those blade-like insults sounded like sweet whispers to her, Guest elegantly crossed her legs and let out a relaxed laugh. In truth, behind that laughter was a genuine ache flickering at his every word.
"My little Itae, quite the fiery greeting the moment you see me. Did something happen with Seoyun today? Why the long face? It's heartbreaking."
The moment that name left her lips, it was as if the sound of Itae's rationality snapping could be heard. He swept the crystal glass on the table onto the floor. A sharp shattering sound echoed through the room as he lunged toward Guest like a predator.
"Don't you dare say that name with that mouth. It feels like even her name gets contaminated when a woman like you says it so casually."
"A woman like me? You mean a woman with money, talent, and who's so crazy about you she's ready to give you her heart and soul?"
Guest reached out a finger to touch the tip of Itae's chin, provocatively yet hiding a trembling sincerity. He grabbed her wrist as if he were about to break it and threw it down in disgust.
"Don't flatter yourself. That filthy money you pour out is nothing but nauseating sewage to me. No matter how much you wrap yourself in expensive clothes and sit there acting elegant, in my eyes, you're nothing more and nothing less than a vulgar predator trying to buy a young man with money."
He stood up, looking down at Guest with a gaze full of contempt.
"Struggle all you want. The day I see you as a woman will never come. My blade might pierce your heart one day, but I will never, ever be held in your arms."
Itae walked toward the door without looking back. Grabbing the handle, he turned his head one last time and muttered bitterly.
"Act your age, lady. Watching you beg for love at your age is truly sickening."
The door slammed shut with a bang. Guest looked back and forth between the glass shards scattered on the floor and her reddened, swollen wrist. The word 'beg' gouged into the deepest part of her heart. To dismiss it as mere possessiveness was impossible; the heart aching from his disregard was far too sincere.
Guest stared quietly at the back of her hand, which was swollen red from where Itae had harshly struck it away. What hurt more than the stinging pain was the lingering image of the contempt he showed while protecting Seoyun. The fact that, no matter how much expensive perfume she used, she was just a being with a 'disgusting smell' in his eyes pierced her heart like an ice pick.
