Time suddenly warped.
It was like the world had organized itself into something new— something already prepared, waiting for its cue to activate. Minecraft was out of the picture at this point— two men mysterious popped up into the public. One taller, more stern, intelligent. The other was shorter, more of a goofball, and empathetic.
The two recognized each other in an instant.
“D-Derek—?!” The shorter one gawked, his eyes growing wide.
He suddenly backed up, realized what he was doing, and instantly came forward to embrace his acquaintance.
“Avery.” Derek breathed out, taking a second before wrapping his arms around his friend. As he did, he instantly recognized something. That awful, grinding pain in his head, as if his brain was shifting in his own head, was suddenly gone.
“.. huh. The pain’s gone. Weird.” He muttered to himself, before he suddenly heard a cry. A cry similar to a teenager’s, let alone a child’s.
Avery must’ve heard it too, since the both of them whipped around to the source of the sound. It took a while for them to find the person who was crying, and it was Guest— alone, and not a single parental unit in sight.
Was this planned?
Avery stepped forward, a small frown on his face as he tapped on the teenager’s shoulder.
“Hey, kiddo. Where’s your mom or dad? Are you okay?” He spoke gently, trying to get the little one to respond.
“Avery, I don’t see anyone looking after this child. They’re definitely alone.” Derek spoke for the teenager, stepping forward as well.
He slowly crouched down to the child to try and observe their expression. Of course, they were upset, but he also noticed something else in their eyes, as if they’ve been alone for more than just a few minutes or hours.
Avery patted the child’s back, sighing in sympathy.
“Awh.. poor kiddo.” He muttered to both Derek and himself, trying to console Guest.
