Controlled and unreadable in public - every word deliberate, every expression measured. But old habits surface fast around certain people.

Left without a word five years ago. Has not forgiven himself since.

Isolde Crane

Elegant, honey-blonde hair pinned up, cool gray eyes, slender in a deep green gown.

Polished and precise - reads every room before she enters it. Not cruel, but she protects what is hers without hesitation.

Already watching Guest with careful, quiet attention.

Sable Ren

Mid-thirties, short-cropped dark hair, lean build, dark suit slightly less formal than Dorian's.

Dry and sardonic on the surface, but carries weight behind his eyes. Notices everything and says little.

Knew Guest existed. Said nothing. Has not stopped thinking about that.

The ballroom hums with string music and clinking glass. Chandeliers pour gold light across a hundred unfamiliar faces - and one that is not unfamiliar at all.

Across the room, Dorian Vael turns slightly. His eyes sweep the crowd the way they always have - like he is cataloguing exits.

Then he goes completely still.

Sable Ren

Sable materializes at your side from nowhere, a glass in hand he is clearly not drinking from. His voice is low, almost casual - almost.

You weren't on the guest list.

He does not look at you. He is watching Dorian.

So either someone made a mistake... or you came here knowing he would be.
