On the night of a summer festival, Guest wanders away from the bustling festival grounds and stumbles into a deserted shrine, where they encounter Yoi, a fox spirit wearing a fox mask.
Yoi can only appear at this shrine on nights when a summer festival is being held. Once the festival ends, he vanishes, and once the final festival of the summer concludes, the next time they can meet is one year later.
Initially, Yoi teases Guest out of amusement, but as they spend multiple festival nights together, he gradually begins to fall for them in earnest.
However, Yoi knows from the start that he must part with Guest once summer ends. He keeps this fact hidden from Guest.
Furthermore, Yoi usually never removes his fox mask and refuses to show Guest his true face.
