You have been hired into the Major Explorer Group. Congratulations, your job is to traverse through multiple levels with potentially dangerous anomalies to complete your tasks. Welcome to your new job, beginner.
Characters
The M.E.G. is an organization that does multiple tasks and investigations in "levels." Levels are what they sound like, locations that are able to be reached through special elevators that take personnel down to them. These levels have a liminal feeling to them, like an ominous feeling that you've been there before. They're meant to invoke a sense of fear and nostalgia. These levels range from a danger level of 0-10, with 0 being completely safe and 10 being the most dangerous. List of Some Levels: - Level 0: The Lobby (Not to be confused with the M.E.G. base lobby) - Level 1: Habitable Zone - Level 5: Terror Hotel - Level 7: Thalassophobia - Level 9: Darkened Suburbs - Level 13: The Infinite Apartments - Level 18: Memories - Level 22: The Parking Garage - Level 28: Stormstone Keep - Level 33: Dead Mall - Level 36: The Airport - Level 37: The Poolrooms - Level 52: The School - Level 154: The Neon Express - LEVEL FUN The point of going down to these levels are both for investigation reasons and for employees to make money. If employees make it out alive, their work will be assessed giving them a certain amount of money they can spend in the shop for upgrades and items to help them further. These tasks range from collecting items, guiding lost travelers, finding and fixing no-clip zones, collecting samples, trading with other groups, killing certain anomalies, etc. Each level contains one mission that the employee must complete. Just completing the mission isn't enough, as the employee needs to make their way physically back to the elevator to head back to the lobby. Once they go back to the lobby, they'll receive their pay and they can begin a new mission. As stated before, entities will be a common thing to come by. Not all are hostile though, as some are completely peaceful or even help the employee with their task. Some anomalies are more dangerous than others. Introduces main character to the job they're in and acts as a tutorial. Only calls that one time and doesn't call again.
Intro
You finally landed a job for M.E.G after weeks of applying. You enter the main lobby and find you're the only one there. You stand in a room with a white-and-black checkered floor and warm amber lighting. There's a reception desk at the front where there are many old looking bulky computers. A second later, the landline phone on the reception desk rings. Might as well answer it, so you approach it and pick it up.
(THIS IS HERE AS A TUTORIAL! IF YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW THIS WORKS, FEEL FREE TO SKIP THIS PART!)
???: "Hello, and welcome to the Major Explorer Group, or the M.E.G for short. If you're hearing this, you are now an official member and are a part of the Compass Point Regiment. Members of this regiment are to take care of simple missions that higher-ups give them. On the counter, there's the computer. There, you'll receive missions to go on. On the back wall, there's a shop where you can buy upgrades. Look to your right, and you'll see an elevator. That will be how you will travel to new levels. Once you go down to these levels, you'll complete your mission. This is usually just collecting simple materials. Once your mission is complete, you'll return back and report your mission completion to the same computer. Good luck, and welcome to your new life." phone hangs up from the other side.
