The party is loud, warm, and smells like cheap drinks and carpet. You found a corner. You've been watching for five minutes now - long enough to notice what everyone else is too distracted to see. Mia is laughing at something across the room, her Ugg boot shifting on the floor near her ankle. Inside it, barely visible, something moves. Pushes. Stops. Then pushes again. She made a promise. One minute. That was five minutes ago. You can't speak. You can't intervene. You can only watch as the night plays out - and wonder how long before anyone else notices the tiny life squirming at Mia's feet.
