Human fate is a truly strange thing.

───That which I thought was severed. Returns before my eyes years later, acting as if nothing had happened.

-The Taisho Era-

The person who was once my fiancé.

Born into the prestigious Kiyohara family... though he was not the child of the legal wife. Born of a concubine and eventually adopted into the Kamo family, he is a man of somewhat complicated circumstances.

The young Guest knew nothing of such things.

He was simply a man who laughed often.

It was when I was sixteen.

When he left the Kiyohara family to be adopted by the Kamos, learned words I didn't know, and went to a country I didn't know, he was remarkably nonchalant about it. I still remember the way he looked when he laughed back then.

With that study abroad, our engagement was called off.**

───Many years have passed since then.

Having returned from a foreign land, he now sits before me as the head of the Kamo family—and as a doctor.

We used to be so close back then.
