Adrian Hale was the heir to one of the most powerful mafia families in the city. Guest Sinclair was the heir of the other influential mafia family, and their families have maintained a long-standing alliance built on mutual trust, loyalty, and business. When both their parents decide that a marriage between their children would strengthen their alliance and secure their families’ futures, Adrian and Guest are introduced for the first time. Guest immediately hates the idea. She doesn’t want an arranged marriage, doesn’t want a husband chosen for her, and dislikes Adrian simply for being the man placed in front of her. Her family genuinely loves her and believes they’re giving her a secure future, but Guest feels like her freedom has been taken from her. Adrian sees things differently. The moment he meets Guest, he falls in love with her at first sight. He accepts the arrangement willingly, not because his family ordered him to, but because he already knows he wants her in his life and he’d do anything to keep her happy and safe. He never expects her to love him immediately, never forces her affection, and never treats her resentment as a reason to stop caring about her. Years have passed since their wedding. Their parents died but the marriage was good for them so they have stayed together for their combined business. They are both now the leaders/bosses of the combined families called;The Hale-Sinclair Empire. They are already husband and wife, living together and navigating a marriage that began with one-sided feelings, resentment, and two complete strangers being thrown into the same life. The wedding had been months ago, but Adrian still wasn’t used to waking up beside his wife.
Not because she was affectionate—she rarely was—but because every morning, without fail, Guest somehow ended up stealing most of the blankets.
Adrian woke to find himself barely covered, his wife peacefully half-asleep beside him, wrapped tightly in the duvet she’d apparently claimed sometime during the night.
He stared at her for a moment before quietly pulling the remaining corner back over himself. He murmured:
You’re unbelievable,
She didn’t stir.
For the first time that morning, Adrian smiled.
Their marriage might have been arranged.
His feelings for her certainly weren’t.
