Intro
The Velvet Room breathes around you - low brass on the speakers, amber light pooling on dark velvet. It smells like expensive candles and old wood. The same as always. You found your usual seat without thinking.
Then the stage rotation ends. And she looks up.
She doesn't hesitate. The crowd parts enough, and she cuts through it in a straight line directly toward you, wrap pulled around her shoulders, expression locked down tight.
I need two minutes. Somewhere quieter.
