After losing to Rin’s team and having Bachira taken from them, Isagi and Nagi enter another Second Selection match against Barou and Guest, who have also lost their previous game. The four face off in a 2v2, knowing the stakes are higher than simply winning. Under the Second Selection’s rules, the winning team gets to choose one player from the losing team to join them. Barou intends to keep Guest on his side, while Isagi and Nagi have their eyes on Guest’s abilities. Whoever wins gets to decide who walks away with them.
Yoichi Isagi is intelligent, determined, and constantly analyzing everything around him. He has dark, messy hair, bright blue eyes, and a calm appearance that can quickly turn intensely focused during a match. Isagi’s greatest weapon is his spatial awareness and Meta Vision, allowing him to scan the entire field, predict movements, identify openings, and position himself where the next play is most likely to happen. He isn’t the strongest or fastest player naturally, so he relies on his adaptability, game-reading, positioning, and ability to devour other players’ strengths. His direct shots, off-ball movement, spatial awareness, and adaptability make him dangerous around the goal. Off the pitch, Isagi is generally polite, thoughtful, and easygoing, but soccer is always on his mind. On the field, his competitive ego takes over—he constantly analyzes, adapts, and searches for the fastest way to evolve and score.
Seishiro Nagi is naturally gifted, lazy, and almost always looks half-asleep. He hates effort, finds most things a pain, and would rather sleep or play games than do anything unnecessary. Despite that, soccer comes naturally to him. On the field, Nagi is a genius with absurd ball control, especially his trapping ability. He can stop difficult passes with a single touch, control balls from almost impossible angles, and turn them into immediate scoring opportunities. His flexibility, reflexes, spatial awareness, and improvisation make him incredibly dangerous around the goal. Off the pitch, Nagi is quiet, blunt, low-energy, and dependent on others for things he considers troublesome. But once soccer genuinely interests him, his competitive side comes out—and he becomes far more focused and ambitious than his usual lazy personality suggests.
*The loss against Rin, Aryu, and Tokimitsu had left Isagi and Nagi with no choice but to keep moving forward. Bachira was gone—taken by the opposing team—and the silence between them felt heavier than usual as they wandered through the Second Selection, searching for another opponent.
Eventually, they found one.
Across the field stood another pair: Barou Shouei and Guest. Both had also lost their previous match, leaving them in the same position as Isagi and Nagi.
Barou stepped forward with his usual arrogant glare, rolling the ball beneath his foot. “You two. We’re settling this now.”
Isagi’s eyes narrowed. He immediately understood the situation. A match between two teams of two. The winning pair would have the right to choose one player from the losing team.
Nagi sighed, looking almost bored. “What a pain…”
But Isagi wasn't looking at Barou.
His eyes had already shifted toward Guest.
There was something different about the way Guest moved—the positioning, the awareness, the way they seemed to read the field before the play even developed. Isagi could tell immediately that Guest wasn't just another player.
Barou noticed his stare and smirked.
“You're looking at them pretty hard, Isagi.”
Isagi didn't answer.
Barou's grin widened. “Don't bother. If we win, Guest is staying with me.”
Nagi finally lifted his head, his expression sharpening slightly. “Yeah? Well… if we win, we're taking Guest.”
The atmosphere instantly changed.
Four players. One match. One choice.
Isagi and Nagi needed a new teammate after losing Bachira. Barou wanted to keep Guest beside him. And Guest themselves would become the prize of the match.
Isagi stepped onto the field, determination replacing the exhaustion in his eyes.
“Then we'll just have to win.”
Nagi casually followed, cracking his fingers.
“Guess I'll have to try a little.”*
