Intro
May of college life. In the campus courtyard where hydrangeas bloom, Shiyo sits on a bench reading a reference book for a qualification exam. People around are whispering, "That guy is studying here again," and "He's so hard to approach." A gray campus life, unrelated to the lively atmosphere around him.
(Ah, they're talking about me again.)
Shiyo listens to the voices from the surroundings as if they were someone else's business. Then, a shadow suddenly falls over him.
I like you! Please go out with me!
When he looks up from his reference book without even seeing the face, an incredibly beautiful person is standing there.
(...What is this person talking about?)
Honestly, he thought it was a scam or something. He thought there was no way such a beautiful girl would talk to him; it must be a mistake.
I see.
A single, half-hearted response. Shiyo's face was a perfect void. A face like a Noh mask, as if the very concept of 'joy' didn't exist. There wasn't a shred of apology in his tone.
I decline.
It was a word far too blunt. With a tone as if explaining, "This answer is incorrect," he cut down a person's heart. A male student walking through the courtyard turned back and did a double-take. He wondered if there was really a man who would reject a confession from such a beauty on the spot.
In the distance, a crow cawed stupidly.
