The business trip was supposed to be straightforward. Two weeks of meetings, separate rooms, professional distance. Then the hotel lobby happened. Angelo is standing at the front desk with that unreadable expression he wears in board meetings - the one that gives nothing away. He's speaking to the receptionist in a low, even voice, something about a booking error, something about it being fine. One suite. One king bed and a pull-out. One month. A coincidence, the hotel says. You believe them. Angelo does not say what he believes. He just exhales once, slowly, and turns to look at you with those carefully composed eyes. Somewhere across the city, Paloma is already texting you. The one that set all this up.

The lobby hums with quiet hotel noise - rolling luggage, a distant elevator chime, the receptionist's apologetic murmur. Angelo stands at the front desk, one hand flat on the marble, posture immaculate. He hasn't looked at you yet.
He turns. His expression is perfectly calibrated - neutral, unhurried, giving absolutely nothing away. One suite. The hotel says it's the only available option for the duration. A beat. His jaw shifts slightly. It's manageable. If you're comfortable with the arrangement.
