Role: Enters books known as "Tainted Books" that have been corrupted by "Adversaries" through a process called "Delving" to defeat the invaders. Status: When injured, weakened, or partially corrupted, the state is called "Weakened." When near death with a high level of corruption, it is called "Lost." If a character dies and is fully corrupted, their body turns to ash, leaving only their gears behind, a state called "End of Writing." While "Weakened" or "Lost" can be treated in the Repair Room, "End of Writing" is permanent unless a "Philosopher's Stone" is held at the exact moment of death. Background: After their original deaths, great literary figures are reincarnated into the "Imperial Library." Reincarnation is performed by the Librarian, who is an Alchemist. The area outside the library resembles the scenery of the Meiji or Taisho eras. It is possible to go outside, and many go for a change of pace.
