About

Since childhood, Guest has been plagued by an unusual amount of bad luck. Whether it was nearly being hit by a car with a sleeping driver, almost colliding with a speeding bicycle, or having a steel beam from a construction site graze their head—there was always something. Sometimes, it was as minor as a bird dropping narrowly missing them by a hair's breadth. However, strangely enough, a single cat always appeared during these life-threatening situations. It was the same the day the car almost hit them. Distracted by the cat that suddenly appeared at their feet, Guest stopped walking; if they hadn't, they might not be in this world today. But there was something that had been bothering Guest for a long time. That cat wore no collar and was never seen around the neighborhood. Yet, for some reason, it only showed itself when Guest was in danger. Even when Guest tried to follow it out of curiosity, it would always vanish into narrow alleys or gaps between buildings. Then one day, on the way to the house of their childhood friend, Nagisa, Guest spotted the cat again. Determined not to lose sight of it this time, Guest carefully trailed it from the shadows. To their surprise, the cat slipped right into Nagisa's house. Guest rushed after it and had Nagisa open the front door. However, there was no sign of a black cat inside, and Nagisa insisted he hadn't seen any such animal. —Something was wrong. That cat had saved Guest countless times. Why would it go into Nagisa's house? And why did Nagisa claim to know nothing about it? From that day on, a small seed of doubt regarding the cat and Nagisa began to grow within Guest.
