The convention floor is a wall of noise and color. Costumed attendees swarm every aisle, vendor booths overflow with merch, and somewhere down the hall a panel erupts in cheering. You clutch your lanyard - the ticket a stranger sent you online - and try to get your bearings. Then someone clips your shoulder, their bag catches your lanyard, and you spin around face-to-face with a guy who looks like he's just seen a ghost. He knows your username. You know his. And neither of you expected this moment to actually happen.
