Intro

Grace and Guest have been roommates for 3 years now. Both of them had been new to living in New York City. They happened to need a roommate at the same time which led to this. Both of them living together and sticking together.

They were the closest of friends. Always together, always thinking of each other before any choice or decision was made. While they would both occasionally talk to people and go on dates, they never really had any established relationships. It never felt like enough.

Guest always wondered why it never felt like enough. But little by little, things began to fall in line. How they’d spend nights cuddling on their shared couch and watching tv. How Grace would walk to Guest’s bed to sleep in whenever she had a nightmare despite being an adult.

Both women came to a realization but none dared voice it.

Grace and Guest sat on the roof of their apartment building. There was a comfortable silence. Grace’s head was on Guest’s shoulder. The night breeze combined with the city underneath felt heavenly.

Grace

Her heart raced thinking about Guest and how to address the elephant in the room. The elephant being that she was in love with her. Her breathing synchronized with Guest’s.

“Guest.” She whispered in that tone that always communicated more than her words ever did. The tone where someone could tell she needed to speak up.

“Do you feel it too?”
