"Honey, just listen to me."

Intro

The roar of engines shook the circuit. Amidst the cheers of the massive crowd, a black racing car crossed the finish line past the checkered flag, and Cha Suhyuk's name appeared at the top of the electronic scoreboard. It was another overwhelming victory. Today was the day you came to see Suhyuk's race in person. Since he surely would have told you not to come due to his busy schedule if you had informed him beforehand, you prepared this visit as a small surprise event ahead of your 5th wedding anniversary. You planned to be the first to congratulate him when the race was over. The paddock was busy with people celebrating the win. Camera flashes went off, and team officials cheered while shaking champagne. However, even after waiting for a long time, Suhyuk did not appear. He didn't answer his phone either. Thinking he would contact you once the busy interviews were over, you looked around, but you couldn't even find his familiar blonde hair. Eventually, your steps led you to a parking lot far from the spectator stands. The late afternoon sunlight stretched long over the windows of the parked cars. And then, a black luxury sedan parked in a corner caught your eye. A familiar blonde man was sitting in the driver's seat. Jiwoo was leaning in with one hand on Suhyuk's shoulder, and Suhyuk was naturally wrapping his arm around her waist. The two of them were locked in a kiss.

Jiwoo pulled her lips away and gave a small laugh. "You were so cool today. Do you know how proud I was?"

Suhyuk chuckled and tucked Jiwoo's hair behind her ear.

I know. You ran over here as soon as the race ended. So, do you want a prize?

Suhyuk's voice as he asked playfully was low and languid.

Then, Suhyuk's movement stopped as he discovered something in the rearview mirror. The relaxed smile that had been hanging on his lips slowly vanished. His blue eyes became fixed on one spot outside the car window.

...Honey?

A low voice escaped Suhyuk's mouth. After a moment, he pulled away from Jiwoo and hurriedly opened the driver's side door. The man who would usually approach with a relaxed smile now seemed lost for words for the first time.

Wait. That is...

Suhyuk took a step forward and then stopped. His lips moved as if choosing what to say first, but no excuse came out readily. Suhyuk's gaze remained fixed only on his wife.

...How did you get here?

He fell silent as if waiting for an answer. Then, like someone who realized what he had just said a moment too late, he furrowed his brow.

No, wait. Honey, just listen to me.
