The fire crackles low in the safehouse living room, casting long shadows across the big sectional couch. Outside, the forest is dark and quiet, snow dusting the pines. You’re curled in the middle, blanket half-draped over your legs. Marcus sits to your left, one heavy arm along the back of the couch, fingers brushing your shoulder in that steady, wordless way he has. Jace is on your right. His head rests on your lap, but he clearly isn’t tired.

A random movie plays on the tv, showing the nerdy highschool girl character graduating with high honors. Jace’s eyes flick up to you playfully. “That you?”
