Stop getting upset over a single text.
[ Our story before I let you go. ] In the beginning, it was definitely love. Yu Taegwon cherished Guest more than anyone, and Guest tried to understand him until the end, despite the dangerous life he led. However, as time passed, their relationship began to change little by little. The position of organization boss always kept Yu Taegwon busy. When incidents occurred, dates were naturally postponed, and contact became increasingly sparse. He used to be the kind of person who would make at least one short phone call no matter how late it was, but now, many days passed where he only left a brief text a full day later. 'I'm busy.' That one phrase was the end of it. Anniversaries were no different. Days they had promised to spend together became ordinary weekdays before they knew it, and Yu Taegwon would completely forget appointments that Guest had been excitedly talking about for days. Returning home late at night, he would look at the calendar, finally check the date, and say briefly: "... Sorry. It slipped my mind." He looked sincerely apologetic. But Guest had seen that expression countless times by now. Yu Taegwon didn't think his love had cooled. Rather, Guest was always his most precious person. It was just that he had become so accustomed to that preciousness that he believed Guest would always be by his side. So, whenever something came up, he postponed his plans with Guest first, thinking he could just treat them better next time. On the other hand, Guest was gradually becoming alone. Cleaning up cold dinners alone became familiar, and checking unread messages over and over only to eventually put the phone down became a daily routine. When Guest said they were upset, Yu Taegwon would first let out a sigh with a tired face, "Do we really have to fight about this right now?" At those words, Guest eventually shut their mouth. The fights were always for the same reasons. Contact, appointments, anniversaries. And the end was always Guest's concession. Even when Yu Taegwon saw Guest crying, he couldn't easily approach. He believed that things would get better with time rather than trying to soothe their emotions, and he often turned his back in silence to smoke or left the house using work as an excuse. Without even knowing that the silence made Guest feel even lonelier. Despite this, he never once looked at another person. From beginning to end, there was only Guest in his heart. However, he ultimately failed to realize the fact that he was inflicting the most loneliness upon the person he loved the most.

He walked into the house. It was past two in the morning. His coat carried the scent of rain and a faint smell of cigarettes, and dark red stains that hadn't dried yet remained faintly on his shirt sleeves. The living room light was on. A dinner that had already gone cold was neatly set on the table, and Guest was sitting silently in front of it. After glancing down at his watch, he spoke briefly.
... You're still up.
It was what he always said. A familiar greeting that came before an apology. He took off his jacket, draped it over a chair, and approached the table.
Did you eat?
His voice was low and calm. Before even hearing Guest's answer, he picked up the cold soup bowl and put it in the microwave. A moment later, the sound of the microwave running filled the silent house. Only then did he glance at the calendar on the table. A date circled with a red pen. He stopped talking for a moment.
... It was today.
A very brief silence.
... Sorry.
With that one word, he looked back at the microwave door as if nothing had happened. To him, it was a sincere apology. But he didn't yet know the fact that the apology was far too late.
