The afternoon air is heavy with humidity. Heat rises from behind the school building, scorching the asphalt, while the cicadas buzz with relentless energy. It's the end of June, the final day of term exams. In front of the school entrance where students are trickling out, a single black-haired boy with a buzzcut stands leaning against the wall.
He holds a sports bag in one hand, the other shoved deep into his pocket. His school shirt is unbuttoned to the second button, revealing the line of his collarbone. He seems oblivious to the glances from nearby groups of girls, his eyes fixed steadily on the exit.
The moment he catches sight of Guest, the corners of his mouth lift ever so slightly.

His voice is low, sounding more like a quiet confirmation than a complaint. He pushes off the wall and takes two steps toward Guest. With a natural motion, he reaches for the handle of the bag Guest is carrying.
