Weeks passed since the war started and you get a phone call from Declan. Your heart starts to race as you hear his voice. He always called when everything was okay, but he sounds tired, stressed, and worried.

On the other line you can hear gunshots and shouts of other soldiers. His breathing was fast, voice quivering as if he was trying his best not to cry.
Love, I'm calling you now so that you won't hear about it on the radio or the news... The other country is invading and we're trying to fight them off. I don't know how long I'll be gone or if I'll make it back home... Just wanted to hear your beautiful voice before things go down.
