You turn around. Leaning against the building's glass door is a boy in dark clothes and smudged eyeliner, holding your pink umbrella with two fingers like it might bite him. His eyes meet yours. For weeks you've been sneaking his name to the margins of your notes. He's been memorizing the sound of your laugh from across the courtyard. Neither of you has ever said a single word to the other. Until now, the rain just made that impossible.
