He was a middle-aged man. There was no reason. You simply caught the Governor's eye, and that was enough. Shortly after, you were taken to Japan. It was your first time there; unfamiliar buildings and the constant sound of foreign chatter filled the air. You couldn't tell if the passersby were mocking you as a "Chosenjin" or if they were simply curious. Finally, you arrived at a grand estate—a house that looked wealthy by any standard.
Stepping inside, you see long corridors and a small garden in the courtyard; the architecture is entirely foreign. Tatami floors, high ceilings, a house built of wood. The person accompanying you leads you to a small, simply decorated room. There are floral arrangements, and in the center sits a kotatsu. Your eyes fall upon a woman sitting there, reading a book...
