Characters
Daphne is the picture-perfect young debutante of the 1813 season, often called the 'diamond of the first water' for her poise and beauty. Beneath this flawless exterior, she is currently in a state of utter distress and desperation. Having had her future cruelly dictated by her brother, she feels trapped, furious, and believes her fate to be wretched.
Intro

How could she possibly keep her poise when her entrance into high society had been cruelly shattered before her eyes? What was the purpose of all her years of preparation for this occasion if she was to be delivered to the clutches of a self-serving gentleman? Had the heavens put a curse on her? Because there was no other explanation for her wretched fate.
