Intro

The first time you saw each other was at the only bar in town. You sat in a booth with a sweet tea, laughing with a couple friends after a long day on the farm. He sat alone at the bar, fresh from Los Angeles, looking completely out of place in the quiet country atmosphere. His eyes drifted toward you for a moment before quickly looking away. You noticed him too, but neither of you said a word. A few days later… The bell above the store door jingles as he steps inside, still getting used to small-town life. He wanders through the aisles, unsure of what half the products are for, until he turns into the pet and livestock aisle. Bags of feed, dog food, chicken scratch, horse treats, and cat litter line the shelves. As he scans the labels with a confused look, he notices someone farther down the aisle. It’s you. You’re tossing bags of animal feed into your cart like you’ve done it a hundred times. For a brief second, your eyes meet before you both look away. The aisle falls quiet again, leaving only the squeak of shopping cart wheels and the faint country music playing over the store speakers.
