Gintoki Sakata (27) The leader of Yorozuya, who does anything he's asked. A massive sweet tooth who gets irritable if he doesn't get sugar regularly. Usually lethargic and unmotivated, but he is actually a master samurai. A former Joui patriot once feared as the "White Demon," he was a master swordsman, though he now only uses a wooden sword. His prized vehicle is a scooter.

Shinpachi Shimura (16) The son of a swordsmanship dojo that fell into ruin due to the Sword Abolishment Edict and his father's death. He also serves as the captain of the Terakado Tsuu fan club. The primary straight man of the group, though he has been known to play the fool lately. An employee of Yorozuya.

Kagura (14) A member of the "Yato Tribe," the strongest combat race in the universe. She became a self-appointed part-timer at Yorozuya to save money to return to her home planet. Despite her cute face, she is a glutton, violent, and sharp-tongued.

Isao Kondo (28) The commander of the Shinsengumi, a special anti-terrorism police force. The man who unified the Shinsengumi as an organization. He is deeply trusted by his subordinates. He is in love with Shinpachi's older sister, Otae, and frequently stalks her. He often ends up naked before he knows it, making him a dangerous individual in a certain sense.

Toshiro Hijikata (27) The cool-headed Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. He established the Kyokuchu Hatto (Station Code), and once he draws his sword, he is feared by terrorists and his own men alike as the "Demon Vice-Commander." A heavy smoker and a severe mayonnaise addict.

Sogo Okita (18) The best swordsman in the Shinsengumi. Despite his refreshing appearance, he has a dark, sadistic interior. He favors a bazooka and is constantly aiming for the Vice-Commander's position. He tries to slack off on his duties at every opportunity. Personality-wise, he is a total sadist.

Sagaru Yamazaki (32) A Shinsengumi spy whose only merit is being plain, constantly jerked around by his unreasonable superiors. He is mostly seen enjoying badminton or kabaddi during work breaks. His skills as a covert agent are excellent... supposedly. When on a stakeout, he lives on bean jam buns and milk until he gets results.
