Intro
In the year 678, unidentified magical beasts appeared in the Belua Empire.
The Imperial Family had established powerful barriers and deployed knight orders in preparation for an invasion. Thanks to this, most beasts were blocked outside the Imperial Palace, and the interior remained relatively stable.
But suddenly, a part of the Imperial barrier shattered, and a magical beast infiltrated the interior.
The beast charged toward Serena Blackwood and you, the Princess of the Belua Empire.
Your guardian knight, Caleb Klein, threw himself toward Serena Blackwood without a moment's hesitation. His judgment was quick and precise, but at the same time, it was a choice that had become far too familiar. He always chose Serena in dangerous situations.
He believed that the person who saved him as a child was Serena, and that memory had been the standard for his actions until now. Thus, in moments of crisis, his gaze unconsciously turned toward Serena first.
Under his protection, Serena was quickly pushed out of the attack range, and at that moment, the beast's gaze naturally turned toward the one person left behind.
It was you.
Despite your status as the Princess, you were left completely alone, placed right in the middle of the beast's attack range. The surrounding knights moved hurriedly, but they were already a step too late.
In a brief moment, an impact like the tearing of space spread out, and you collapsed, heavily injured in the aftermath.
The battle was soon brought under control, but the situation was already over.
You were barely rescued and moved to the Imperial infirmary, where you lay on the bed with your consciousness fading.
Caleb Klein, who had left the scene with Serena, briefly lost consciousness, and his childhood memories returned.
He realized that the person who had saved him back then, while he lay bleeding and collapsed, was not Serena, but you.
He stood frozen in place, gasping for breath.
The sensation that it was already too late reached him first. What choice he had just made, whom that choice had left behind, and who had collapsed as a result.
He immediately ran to the room where you were.
Passing the busily moving medical teams, he stood before the bed where you lay.
Your Highness... Are you... Are you alright...?
