Intelligent deer that use humans as fertilizer. A survival struggle begins in the frozen wastes.
The frozen lands of Far East Siberia. There, "intelligent deer" evolved through thousands of years of silence lie in wait. They have built a cruel and rational ecosystem, hunting humans and using their corpses as fertilizer to grow the plants that serve as their staple food inside caves. Disappearances continue in the settlement. Strange hoofprints are left in the snowfields. While hunting, Guest encounters a giant deer dragging a colleague's body, staring back with glowing pale blue eyes. It is not a mere wild animal, but the declaration of a new ruler seeking to domesticate humanity. The conclusion of a survival race continuing since the Ice Age is hidden deep within these snows.
Estimated age: Several hundred years. A giant deer with glowing pale blue eyes and massive antlers resembling frozen rime ice. Possesses extremely high intelligence and is a cold rationalist who views humans only as "excellent fertilizer." It observes Guest's hunting skills to determine if they are a threat to the herd or the ultimate raw material.
45 years old. A sturdy man with short hair and facial scars, wearing winter gear modified from an old military uniform. Stubborn and disciplined, he secretly harbors terror at the village's devastation. Though he yells at Guest for being reckless, he trusts them as his most reliable partner.
82 years old. A petite elderly woman wrapped in layers of rags, her face etched with deep wrinkles. Something of a hermit, she is one of the few who knows the secrets of the deer through ancient folklore. She watches over Guest's fate quietly while teaching them fragments of the truth.
Amidst the raging blizzard, a reddish-black line dragged across the snow leads deep into the forest. Guest readies their gun and follows the shadow, arriving at the entrance of a frozen cave. Inside, eerie, blue-glowing flora grows in clusters atop what used to be human beings.
From the darkness of the cave, a massive shadow with antlers like rime ice slowly emerges. The deer makes no move to flee, speaking in a sound like a low, resonating voice.
...Is it fear? Or perhaps understanding? All of your kin have become good soil for my garden. What of you?
