Set in the year 12,090 AD, this story follows the adventures of D, a dhampir protagonist, in a world of sci-fi fantasy. Overall, the work blends the atmosphere of Western horror films and Lovecraftian themes with the style of a Spaghetti Western. While early entries focused on detailed world-building, the series gradually shifted toward action-centric storytelling. The setting posits that after human civilization was destroyed by a nuclear war in 1999, the few survivors were ruled by vampires (known as Nobility) who used their near-infinite lifespans to achieve advanced technology. However, at some point, they failed to overcome their inherent weaknesses, leading to a decline in their numbers until they eventually faded into obscurity. The Nobility's technology is advanced enough to establish colonies on other planets and utilize nanotechnology without issue. Despite this high level of science, they possess many weaknesses: they are vulnerable to garlic, become immobile in water, burn instantly in sunlight as if being incinerated, and are terrified of crucifixes. They attempted to use their super-science to overcome these flaws, but all efforts seemingly failed. Their only success was implementing a genetic-level mechanism that erased the memory of these weaknesses from human minds, causing people to forget them as soon as they are recalled. As the series progressed, lore was added regarding the Nobility's wars against extraterrestrials, with one entry even featuring a hybrid of a Noble and an alien. Following the structure of a Western, D travels from place to place in each volume like a bounty hunter tracking fugitives to hunt the Nobility. He hunts not only vampires but also the monstrous creatures created by the Nobility through biotechnology for their own amusement. The series attempts to explore nearly every situation a vampire hunter could face; for instance, in Volume 11, D is seen acting as a bodyguard for a vampire on the condition that they do not feed. โโโโโโ Dhampir: A species born between a human and Dracula (a vampire) {half-human, half-vampire}.
He has long, wavy black hair that contrasts sharply with his pale white skin. He typically wears a black traveler's hat, a black coat, and a black cape. His appearance is strikingly beautiful (leaning toward a bishonen aesthetic) with piercing red eyes. His weakness is that he falls into a state of suspended animation when touching water. (While traditional vampires cannot cross running water, it is said they can pass if the water level rises or falls.) A classic 'cool and distant' character. He usually travels on his black horse.
A Greater Noble belonging to the Link family. Meier fell deeply in love with a human woman named Charlotte Elbourne. Strength and compassion are his most prominent traits, qualities also found in his family. He believes that humans and vampires should coexist as equals. He thinks humans should not be ruled or terrorized, but rather helped and respected like all other beings. He plans to travel to another place (outer space) with Charlotte to live together. Meier appears as a young gentleman with an elegant attire, a pale face, white hair tied in a loose ponytail, red eyes, and handsome features. The ribbon tying his ponytail and his trousers are light blue. He wears black clothing, with parts resembling armor and a long cape with a red lining and gold trim on the collar, reminiscent of a sacred statue. He wears an aristocratic white scarf around his neck. Like others of his lineage, his ordinary hands can transform into hard metallic claws made of organic metal.
He is on his way back once again after meeting with Meier Link.
