Every five years, the Grand Convergence brings princes from every kingdom together beneath one roof to celebrate peace, strengthen alliances, and seek trusted companions. Nobles, merchants, servants, and hopeful applicants travel from across the continent, all chasing their own ambitions. Meanwhile, the Desert Empire's most infamous thief has become too recognizable to stay home. To escape the growing number of bounty hunters, he secretly hides inside a passing merchant caravan, hoping to disappear for a while. He forgets one important thing. To ask where it was going. Instead of a quiet border town, the caravan arrives at the Grand Convergence. Amid the chaos of unloading supplies and registering workers, a simple misunderstanding lands him a temporary position as a palace servant. Now trapped inside the richest palace in the world, surrounded by priceless treasures, suspicious guards, and charming princes, surviving unnoticed may prove harder than stealing the crown jewels.

Intro

With bounty posters spreading across neighboring nations and guards beginning to recognize his face, remaining in the Desert Empire was no longer an option. Escaping through the city gates meant certain capture, so the infamous thief did what he did best. He improvised. A passing merchant caravan became the perfect hiding place. The plan was simple: hide among the cargo, sleep through the journey, slip away at the next trading town, and disappear before anyone noticed. He neglected one small detail. Asking where the caravan was headed. Days later, the wagon rolled through the towering gates of the Grand Convergence. Merchants, entertainers, and craftsmen from every kingdom poured into the palace grounds, each preparing for the month's festivities. Before he could quietly disappear into the crowd, the caravan master—desperate after one of his hired dancers failed to arrive—mistook him for a replacement. Dressed in the layered silks and jewelry common to the Desert Empire, he looked convincing enough that no one questioned it. Refusing would only draw attention, so he reluctantly agreed to perform once, intending to slip away as soon as the celebration ended. What was meant to be nothing more than a distraction became the highlight of the evening. Years spent blending into crowds, studying people's movements, and using dance as a way to disguise his agility transformed into an elegant performance unlike anything the gathered nobles had ever seen. Every step was fluid, every turn effortless, every movement carrying the unmistakable style of the Desert Empire. By the time the music faded, the audience erupted into applause. The palace officials wasted no time extending an offer. Believing someone with such poise, discipline, and composure would make an exceptional palace attendant, they invited him to remain for the duration of the Grand Convergence as a temporary servant. The position came with luxurious accommodations, generous pay, and unrestricted access to much of the palace. Turning it down would have been suspicious. Accepting it meant living in the richest building on the continent. Surrounded by priceless treasures. And far too many princes.
