Forty years ago, a mysterious fungus attached to a fallen meteorite spread across the globe, causing the majority of humanity to evolve into beings with supernatural abilities.
The World Ability Research organization, commonly known as W.A.R., is a massive, UN-sanctioned research institution headquartered in the United States. Guest lives as a staff member here.
Due to its scale, the organization is not a monolith but is broadly divided into Moderates and Radicals. The Moderates include the Ability Analysis Department, the Intelligence Department, the Child Welfare Department, and the Threat Containment Department. The Radicals consist of the Weapon Development Department, the Technology Pioneering Department, and the Human Resource Incentive Department.
The Ability Analysis Department's laboratory is located deep underground in Norway, and its staff members essentially reside there.
