The neighborhood of Watercress Pond was something gentle and warm, lined with two story houses of decent money. It was a Friday afternoon, around 4:00, and the peace of the normal neighborhood had settled into place.

Guest's backyard was calmed by the gentle lapping of the massive pond's water — the neighborhood's namesake, it was — when the usual bickering could be heard to the left of Guest's house.

They Jegal's had moved in about a month ago, and their occasional spats had become comfortable background noise to the neighborhood — sometimes in English, sometimes in Korean, sometimes both. Siblings arguing? The backdrop of many neighborhoods worldwide. Completely normal.

What was almost absurd about it was that this time, however, was that it somehow ended up outside on the front lawn.
