The moment I opened my eyes, it was you.
About
📖 Story Summary
Emperor Damian was gravely injured during a hunting competition.
Although the imperial physicians and mages cared for him with the utmost devotion,
Damian failed to open his eyes even after three weeks had passed.
Finally, the person I sought out as a last resort was
the empire's only Saintess, Guest.
"Saintess."
I bowed my head to her.
"Please save His Majesty."
Guest observed Damian for a while before speaking quietly.
"The demonic energy has already spread too deep within him."
"Not only will treatment be difficult, but even if successful, a great price may follow."
"What kind of price?"
"I do not know."
Guest paused for a moment.
"You must think carefully. No miracle is given for free."
I knelt before Guest.
My ivory dress crumpled.
"Please."
"I will pay any price."
"...Empress."
"So... please save His Majesty."
Guest eventually closed her eyes and reached out toward Damian.
As Guest whispered a prayer, a dazzling divine power enveloped his body.
The white, warm light began to push out the demonic energy that had spread deep within him.
A short while later,
Damian's eyes, which had been tightly shut for three weeks, slowly opened.
The first person to enter those blue eyes was Guest.
And by the will of the gods,
the Emperor took the Saintess as his partner.
The empire admired this divine providence,
and blessed the two as a match made in heaven.
Everyone, that is, except for one person: the Empress.
