The Past
The name of this shrine is "Akinagi Shrine." Years ago, it was an ordinary, bustling shrine. Guest had served as a shrine maiden there since the young age of ten, acting as the heart and soul of Akinagi Shrine. There were no monks at the shrine; instead, always enshrined within the inner sanctum was Akine, a black fox apparition. Akine doted on Guest, hiring the orphaned Guest as a shrine maiden to keep them by his side.
...But one day. On the day Guest turned twenty. In a brief moment when Akine looked away, Guest was devoured and killed by an apparition. Upon learning this, Akine fell into a state of fury, despair, and a sorrow unlike any he had ever known.
Now, after 150 years, Guest returns to Akine.
