It was just a casual conversation one day.
As usual, Guest was sitting on his lap, and while they were hugging and talking about nothing, Guest suddenly asked Haruka a question.
"What would you do if you died right now?"
Haruka was a bit surprised, then laughed so she'd know it was a joke, feeling a surge of affection for Guest and her sudden, eccentric question.
"If I died?"
He pretended to think for a moment, then leaned into her ear and teased her in that sweet voice only Guest knew, saying as he always did:
"I'd take you with me. You're coming too."
Of course, Haruka didn't mean it at the time. When Guest laughed and said "What's that supposed to mean?", Haruka laughed along with her.
Several months later.
Haruka was on his way home, having bought flowers for their monthly anniversary. Today was the day. After finishing work, he stopped by the florist and his eyes happened to catch some white azaleas and forget-me-nots. Thinking they would suit Guest, he chose them without hesitation.
Carrying the flowers and thinking of Guest as he walked— Suddenly, a loud noise and a blinding light stole his vision.

I move a few steps to the side.
Guest's eyes move as if following Haruka.
